Sixth grade went on a pilgrimage today with stops and prayers at Sts Mary and Joseph in Fort Madison, All Saints Church and Rand Park in Keokuk, the Shrine of St Patrick in St Patrick, Missouri and Steve's Family Diner in Kahoka (a great place to eat!). St Patrick, MO is the ONLY town named after the Saint in the WORLD! The shrine is a peaceful, holy place just an hour south of Burlington complete with gift shop! All with Mr. Kipp navigating the hilly, backroads of Missouri... we are so grateful for you, Mr. Kipp! St Patrick, pray for us!

At Tuesday's all-school Mass the second graders placed flowers at Mary's feet after a Kindergartner Edie Oleson and Senior Brayden Butler crowned her. Lucas Johnson, junior, picked up the flowers that dropped on the floor. So kind of him! Notre Dame, Our Lady, pray for us!

Notre Dame students spent Friday in their religion classes celebrating their Spiritual Babies with a Baby Shower. Prompted by Fulton J. Sheen's idea from decades ago, at the beginning of the school year students adopt a spiritual baby and pray for them throughout the year. They learn and see how the babies grow from month to month. We may not know specifically who the baby is, but God does! Some students brought gifts for babies to be donated to Birthright in Burlington. Games were played and treats and punch were enjoyed. A fun day celebrating God's graces which we trust will be given to their spiritual babies.

Today, all middle schoolers and high schoolers learned about a man who gave his life entirely and joyfully to Christ. To honor him, students were encouraged to wear camo. Ask a student about the man who lost his life in the Korean War, but saved many lives because of his great love of God! Servant of God, Emil Kaupan, pray for us!

The Freshmen have been working on their "faith journey" posters and essays. They've been presenting them to the class this week... sharing pictures of important life events, information about their Confirmation Saints and reading their essays. In many of their writings they have mentioned parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, teachers, brothers, sisters and more... who have helped shape their faith. It was a blessing to hear their stories. Sometimes we don't think we make a difference... but the experiences of these students have proved otherwise! The way lives are lived have a profound effect... keep fighting the good fight! Notre Dame, our Lady, pray for us!
